Alice Wai Ho
Cheung
Jul 11, 1950 — May 21, 2026
Fresno
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Alice Wai Ho Cheung on May 21, 2026, in Fresno, California. She was 76 years old.
Alice was born on July 11, 1950, in Toishan, Guangdong, China, to her parents Chun Sheung Lam and Siu Wan Lau. As the eldest of six children, she helped guide her siblings as the family grew up in Toishan, Hong Kong, and later San Francisco, where they immigrated on October 12, 1969.
From a young age, Alice loved clothes, fashion trends, and American music. After meeting her Shanghainese boyfriend, Eric Cheung, she moved to New York to study at the Fashion Institute.
Alice and Eric later married in San Francisco, and soon after, an opportunity arose to open a Chinese restaurant in Florida. They moved to Fort Myers, where they welcomed their first child, Floridia Cheung. The family later settled in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles, where they welcomed their son, Calvin Cheung.
Alice built a long and respected career in banking, working at Great Western, Washington Mutual, and Chase. She rose from bank teller to loan officer, supporting many newly arrived Chinese immigrants as they established their lives in the Los Angeles area.
With her love for food, fashion, and adventure, Alice cherished traveling. Together with Eric, she explored Europe, South America, Asia, the Caribbean, and North America, creating memories across the world by plane and cruise ship.
Alice is survived by her husband, Eric Cheung; her daughter Floridia, spouse Bradley Alan Jones, and their children Alastair and Oliver; and her son Calvin, spouse Jennifer Chi. She is also survived by her siblings Tony Lam, Amy Au, Sondra Baggio, Kitty Lam, and Albert Lam.
