Augustino "Augie" Guerriero
July 16, 1945 – January 31, 2026

Augie Guerriero was born on July 16, 1945 in the Bronx, New York, and passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 31, 2026, in Fresno, California at the age of 80.

Augie was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Carmella Guerriero, his beloved wife of 58 years, Rose Guerriero, and his sister Ginger Patterson.

He is survived by his son, Anthony, and his cherished grandson, Vincent Guerriero, whom he adored. Vincent was the joy of his life from the minute he was born. Augie also leaves behind his sister, Anne Sondergaard and brother Joe Guerriero. Both of them were unconditionally dedicated to Augie in his final few years- lovingly caring for him on almost a daily basis.

In addition, Augie leaves behind his two sisters-in-law Alice and Helen, and his brother-in-law Frank. Augie will also be missed dearly by his numerous nieces and nephews, whom he shared special, individual bonds with in both the Guerriero and Sanchez families. He loved them all dearly.

Augie moved to California from New York as a teenager. After working with his dad in the grape packing business, he ventured out on his own by starting his own roofing company called Sunnyside Roofing, which lasted for 50 years until he became disabled and could no longer work.

He was a TRUE 'New Yorker' at heart, often saying, "you can take the boy out of New York, but you can't take New York out of the boy". Augie cherished his Italian heritage-he was an avid New York Giants football fan, but nothing brought him more joy than cheering on his beloved New York Yankees year after year, win or lose. While living in New York, he attended numerous Yankees games in the Bronx, even if it meant he had to skip school to go!

Family was at the center of Augie's life. He treasured time spent with loved ones, especially weekly Sunday dinners cooked by his beloved mother, Carmella. Augie loved sharing holidays and Italian traditions, especially with his grandson Vincent.

Augie will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his hilarious jokes, and his stories of the "good 'ol days" growing up in the old neighborhood in the Bronx. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
