Barbara May
Keck
Aug 29, 1926 — Jun 3, 2026
Barbara May (Luce) Keck departed this world and was welcomed into heaven on June 3rd, 2026 at the age of 99.
Barbara who was married to her late husband, Howard Keck, for 72 years is survived by her children, David (Pati), Tim (Lynette), Leann (Lyle Cornelius), her grand children: Travis (Vanessa), Tasha (David Worthington), Sarah, Kirstine, Emily, Raymond, Alexandra & Andrew (Graci) and great grand children Caroline, Garrett, Paige, Olivia & Ochre, her nephew Scott (Liz) Brown and dear friends Marilyn & Jeff Carter.
Born August 29th, 1926 in San Francisco, Barbara grew up there and graduated from Lincoln High School. Following Heald Business College she worked at the Wine Advisory Board until she married Howard Keck in 1948. After living briefly in Berkeley and Oakland, she, Howard and nine month old David moved to Lubbock, Texas so Howard could take on a teaching position at Texas Tech. Following Lubbock they moved to Fresno so Howard could teach at the new Fresno State College.
Shortly after arriving in Fresno, Barbara delivered Stephen into the world, though his stay was short due to heart issues. In October of 1954 Barbara welcomed Timothy into the world. The family of four lived in Fresno until 1958 when Howard moved his family to Davis so he could complete a Masters Degree. Returning to their home in Fresno they began looking for land east of Clovis to build a house. In 1963 the family moved into their new home on 30 acres east of Clovis. In 1965 Barbara & Howard welcomed their fourth child, Leann, into the family. Living in the country with a beautiful view of the Sierras, but a great distance between neighbors was quite different from life in San Francisco.
In 1981, now with only Leann at home, the family moved from the country to the growing town of Clovis. Barbara & Howard lived in various homes in Clovis until 2019 when they moved to Carmel Village.
Barbara will be remembered as a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and true friend. She was thoughtful, caring and a good listener. She passed just three months short of her one hundredth birthday, something she cared little about. She will be missed by all. The family would like to thank all of the care givers at Carmel Village, all the doctors and nurses at Clovis Hospital, and Farewell Funeral Services for their help and support.
Pallbearers: Tim Keck (son), David Keck (son), Lyle Cornelius (son-in-law), Scott Brown (nephew), Travis Keck (grandson) and Raymond Cornelius (grandson).
David & Leann would especially like to thank and express our deepest appreciation to their brother Tim and friend Marilyn for the many hours spent with Barbara during her last year and her last few weeks.
