Barbara Serimian
March 24, 1934 – December 16, 2025
Barbara Honem Serimian was born in San Francisco, California on March 24, 1934 to
John and Lucy Babayan. She graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco,
continuing on to UC Berkley where she received her bachelor's degree in English with a
minor in Spanish. After college, she taught English for several years in Riverside,
California. In 1960, she married Donald Serimian, moving to Selma, California. Soon
after, they had two sons, David Serimian and Marlon Serimian. Barbara was always a
creative spirit. She loved her garden and painted watercolors for many decades.
Barbara knit for many years and had her own inimitable style creating garments under
her design name: B. Honem. Barbara loved entertaining in her home, both for family
and friends, and was an exceptional cook. Barbara enjoyed everything artistic, from art
museums to culture, dance and music, and she introduced her sons to many of these
experiences throughout her life.
Barbara was always an independent spirit and spent many weekends exploring San
Francisco with her sons. She thought it was important to expose her boys to the arts
and cultures of the world. Barbara enjoyed many Big Game Stanford/Berkley football
game weekends with her husband and their friends.
Barbara is survived by her sons David and Marlon. She is also survived by her
grandchildren William and Chloe, whom she loved spending time with and adored. A
special thanks to Barbara's care providers during the last years of her life: Rosa
Orosco, Jazmine Ruelas, and Kendra Gomez. The family is grateful for their devotion
and care of Barbara.
