Obituary

Mrs. Betty Anne Litzie, age 99, of Fresno, passed away on Monday morning, September 29, 2025. Born on January 8, 1926, in High Point, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond Webber Watson and Lydia Ann Watson (nee Deaton).

Betty Anne was the ultimate southern girl, cherishing her upbringing in High Point. At 17, her family moved to Middle River, Maryland, where her father contributed to the war effort at the Glen Martin Aircraft factory. It was there she met her future husband, Army Air Corp Captain Vincent E. Litzie, at a USO event. They married in 1943 and lived in various places, including Atlantic City, New Jersey, and High Point, North Carolina, before settling in Fresno in 1964.

Betty Anne was a devoted mother and a woman of many talents. She was an avid reader, a superior cook, an expert seamstress, and an amazing knitter. She learned to play a double-keyboard organ at 70 and loved music and dancing, especially Big Band music. Her career began in 1957 with a clerical position at WNOS radio station in North Carolina, quickly advancing to a disc jockey role. She later handled advertising sales for the State of North Carolina at Bennett Advertising and served as the assistant director of the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center.

Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Vincent E. Litzie, her brother Raymond Webber Watson, Jr., her sister Donna Faye Amos, and son-in-law John Keith Christensen, Betty Anne is survived by her daughters Diana Bradley (Robert), Patricia Christensen, and Marsha Trower (Jim), six granddaughters, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to St Agnes Hospice, and Hope Parr, Josie Sanchez, and staff with A Touch of Hope at Truewood by Merrill at Fig Garden.
