Lewis Kotoian
May 18, 1936 — Mar 30, 2025
Selma
Beverly Lewis Kotoian passed away peacefully on the evening of March 30, 2025 at the age of 88, at Nazareth Home in Fresno surrounded by family.
Beverly was born in Sacramento, California in 1936. and had been a resident of Selma since 1966. She worked for decades at Sun-Maid Raisin Company, retiring as a USDA Inspector. She will be long remembered for strong-arming everyone at her work site to buy cases of candy in order to help many local kids go to summer camp. Always taking her breaks to check on her children to make sure their homework was completed and that they were ok.
Beverly leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Charley Kotoian. Together they RV-traveled extensively to the Redwood mountains and camped along the California coast. Beverly treasured her memories of visiting the Holy Land; exploring Italy; Portugal and the Azores; New York with grandkids; and multiple trips to Hawaii.
Beverly loved to crochet, gifting dozens of afghans for warmth to the homeless. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook, she taught her kids to cook when they were young. For years she volunteered as a lector, reading from the sacred scripture during Mass. She loved Christmas and decorated her trees with intricate delicate handmade ornaments Over the years many wandering cats were lucky enough to find their way to her door. She will be missed. She loved to go fishing and always won $ 5.00 for the first fish, $ 5.00 for the biggest fish and $5.00 for the most fish caught. Beverly was strong in her Catholic faith, and had many friends.
She is survived by children Yvonne Riojas and Rachel Ortega of Selma, and Michael Ortega (Janine) of Santa Cruz. Loving grandmother to Elliot, Peter, Dylan, and Jocelyn; great grandma to Enzo and Audrina. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sister Darlene Hughes McFerrin and nephew Sean Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, Beverly requested gifts be made to Povereloo House in Fresno, or to Central Valley Teen Challenge; or to your favorite charity.
