Billy Marvin Biggs was born in Fresno Ca. On May 6, 1948. He spent his formative years in Kerman, Hayward and Fresno. He attended Fresno High, Fresno City College, and Hayward State. After his stint in the US Army, where he was stationed in Alaska, he enrolled in Fresno State University to obtain a degree in Science and procure his teaching credential.

He spent his entire educational career in Clovis Unified where he taught heath and coached football and softball at Clovis West from 1977 to 1990. He then transferred to Clovis High where he finished out his educational career.  He met Anne Leath in 1971, they were married in 1973, they remained partners until his death. He is survived by his wife, Anne Biggs, daughter, Aaryn Biggs, her fiance, Steve Sherwood, son Kyle Biggs and his wife, Mayra Biggs. Billy was known as Grandpa by his two oldest grandchildren, Kyler and Kasen James. He was known as Papa by his three younger grandchildren, Madden, Tebow and Kai Biggs.

After retiring from teaching for over forty years, he continued coaching at Clovis High, then on to Buchanan. At the request of his son, Kyle, Billy followed him to Fowler High School and then on the Central East High School where he was a part of the staff that won five TRAC championships and a state championship in 2019. In 2022 he retired from coaching due to health issues.

Billy's love for coaching far exceeded practices or games, while at Clovis West he had Thursday night dinners for his offensive line. While at Clovis High, he opened his classroom during lunch to whomever wanted to be in a safe place. He provided fruit, granola bars and treats for anyone who came in. No one was ever turned away.

At Central High he brought brownies and "Grizzly Juice," on Thursdays after practice. The kids began to call him Papa Biggs and that name remained for all the years he was there. Billy believed that football was not just about wins or losses, but about life. He taught young men how to win with dignity and lose with grace. In lieu of flowers a scholarship is being established in his name.

When Billy was not on the football field, or in his classroom, he could be found with a fishing pole in his hand. His favorite places were Shaver Lake, Dinkey Creek and any place he could take his boat. Billy was an amazing story teller especially when it came to fishing. Billy was blessed being able to do what he loved most.
