Bud Elliott (Rodney Elliott Stambaugh), beloved journalist, father, and husband, passed away on November 18, 2025 after a 12-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born on December 4, 1948 in Montana and raised in New Mexico, Bud graduated from Colorado State University, where he met Peggy, the love of his life and wife of 52 years.

An Emmy Award-winning journalist and broadcaster, Bud built a remarkable on-air career that spanned more than five decades. His work in radio and television news carried him from Colorado to Florida, Georgia, and Virginia before leading him to California's Central Valley, the place he proudly called home for more than 38 years. For decades, Bud was a trusted voice of local news as KSEE24's primetime anchor and he mentored a generation of young journalists.

A gifted storyteller with a natural command of both the written and spoken word, Bud poured his creativity into letters, speeches, articles, screenplays, and even a novel. His curiosity animated every part of his life from woodturning and gardening to raising chickens, cooking, and boxing.

Defined by integrity, kindness, and humility, Bud was known for his dry wit and readiness to help. He left an enduring mark on everyone he met. Over the years, Bud gave generously of his time and talents to many charitable organizations including the Parkinson's Foundation, Central Valley Crime Stoppers, Rock Steady Boxing, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and several veterans' groups.

Bud is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Sarah, son Andrew, and grandson Benjamin, along with his sisters Helen and Betsy, and a large and growing extended family.

A memorial will be held in the spring of 2026.
