Carmen grew up in Inglewood/Maywood area of Los Angeles County.  Graduated from Bell High School.  She was an accomplished pianist playing with her high school orchestra and her church.  She married Harry Joseph in 1942 and they raised their children in West Covina, California.  In 1966 the family moved to Big Bear Lake.  They purchased the Campus Donut Shop and were known for their warm hospitality, delicious donuts, hot coffee and excellent daily specials that Carmen prepared for their customers, including her pork roast, meatloaf and pot roast.  Carmen and Harry divorced and she eventually moved to San Bernadino.

Carmen then began her career with the California Junior College System working as a bookkeeper in the Student Financial Aid programs and Payroll Departments.  She worked for San Bernadino JC for approximately 10 years.  She and Fred Cable married and they moved to San Clemente, California where Carmen worked for Saddleback JC as a bookkeeper.

Carmen and Fred purchased a boat and spent many hours boating up and down the California Coast.  Their favorite trips were to Catalina with their many friends from the Dana Point Harbor.  In 1988 Carmen and Fred moved to Fresno to be closer to their children and grandchildren.  They were charter members of Copper River and played a lot of golf with so many life long friends.  They were avid Fresno State Bulldog fans attending, for years, football, basketball and baseball games.

Carmen was active in her church (NorthWest) where she volunteered for different programs but especially loved serving in the Prison Fellowship and Timothy programs leading women to a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Carmen's family wants to express their profound gratitude and deep appreciation to her outstanding caregivers for the past 2 years.  Mary Gonzales, Samantha Lopez, Carinna Sandoval, Zysthiel Jouregui, Sonia DeLa Torre, Maria Sanchez and others.

Carmen was a loving, caring person who always greeted everyone with a hug, wink and a smile.
