CLOVIS

Obituary

Cecily Marie Hemman of Clovis, California and formerly of Manteca, California where she lived for over 40 years, passed away peacefully in her home on July 22, 2025.

Cecily was born on August 20, 1942, in Selma, California, to Willie Kroos and Rigmor Lund Kroos. Her mother passed away in 1957, and her father later remarried Inge, who lovingly supported Cecily throughout her life. She spent her early years in Selma and graduated from Selma High School. Throughout her life, she lived in several states including Idaho, Louisiana, Texas, and California, traveling and building a life with her beloved husband, Lloyd Amos Hemman, whom she married in 1973.

Cecily dedicated 22 years of service as the librarian at McParland Elementary School in Manteca, California. In addition to her work in education, she returned to school as an adult to complete her degree, something she took great pride in accomplishing. Her nurturing presence, warm spirit, and passion for books created a lasting impact on generations of students. Above all else, Cecily was devoted to her family.

Through her marriage to Lloyd, Cecily became part of a beautifully blended family. She brought with her Jacqueline Rigmor Arnold Eriksen (Eric) and Lisa Ann Arnold. Lloyd brought Lloyd Allen Hemman (Lezlie), Barbara Lynn Hemman Dehl (Curtis), and Curtis Neal Hemman (Diana). Together, they had two sons, Michael Todd Hemman (Caitlyn) and Bryan Christopher Hemman (Heidi).

She is survived by her children Mike Hemman, Bryan Hemman, Barbara Dehl, and Curt Hemman. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 2022, as well as three of her beloved children Allen Hemman, Jacqueline Eriksen, and Lisa Arnold. Cecily was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Cassie and Aaron (James), and a great grandchild, Alexander. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister Susan Wells, her stepbrother Rhinehold Nestved, and stepsister Monika Nestved.

Cecily had a quick wit, a bright sense of humor, and a deep love for ice cream. She was known for her ability to bring warmth and laughter to any room, and for the strength and grace with which she raised her children and supported her extended family. She and Lloyd shared many adventures across the country, a deep love for their family, and a lifetime of memories rooted in love and resilience.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Page Funeral Home in Selma, California, followed immediately by graveside services at Selma Cemetery.

To celebrate Cecily's life and her love of ice cream, all are welcome at an Ice Cream Sundae gathering at 2:00 PM at The Fountains at Alluvial, located at 1650 Alluvial Avenue, Clovis, CA 93611.

Family and friends are invited to attend both events to share stories, express love, and celebrate the legacy she leaves behind. Flowers or a donation to a local school library or community literacy program in Cecily's name are welcome.

Cecily will be remembered always for her love of family, her devotion to education, her infectious laughter, and the light she brought into every life she touched.
