Chu‑Hang Sam Pau, 76, of Fresno, California, passed away on September 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife, daughter, and son‑in‑law.

Born on January 13, 1950, in Hong Kong, Sam left home in July 1972 to pursue higher education in the United States. He attended Monterey Peninsula College before transferring to Fresno State University, where, during his first week on campus, he met Brenda, who would become his lifelong partner.

After graduating, Sam began his career as a loan officer trainee with Bank of America. Preferring stability over frequent transfers, he transitioned into financial planning and went on to build a distinguished 43‑year career as a Certified Financial Planner with Morgan Stanley. Dedicated to serving his clients with integrity, Sam remained committed to staying informed; regularly reading about various industries and companies and watching national and international news to understand the events that could impact those he advised.

Sam was widely respected for his honesty, professionalism, and thoughtful financial guidance. Outside of his career, he found joy in tending to his garden, caring for his fish pond and orchid plants, and listening to his extensive vinyl record collection. Sam had a life long love of music, from playing bass guitar in Hong Kong to attending his daughter’s piano recitals and Jazz festivals. During his daily commute, he faithfully tuned in to Fresno State Radio, KFSR 90.7.

Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Brenda; his daughter, Macye, and her husband, CJ; his brothers Simon, Jack, and Philip; his sister Alice; and his nephew and nieces.

Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday September 15th at 11:30AM at First Chinese Baptist Church in Fresno, 6080 N Angus St, Fresno, CA, 93710
