Clenton Ray Wells, 85 passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024 at home surrounded in love by his wife, children and beloved caregiver.

Clenton was born to Ira and Zealand Wells on October 27, 1939 in Vinita Oklahoma.  Clenton was the youngest boy of 6 children. He is preceded in death by his parents Ira and Zealand Wells, brothers Nolan, Dane and Don Wells, sisters Brenda Clifton and Carolyn Sanders.

Clenton came to Selma California with his family at the age of 9 where he lived until his death.

Clenton was a 1958 graduate of Selma high school where he fell in love with his high school sweetheart Susan Kroos.  Clenton and Susan recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Clenton had various jobs one of which was gas station attendant where Susan worked next door at Snow White drive-in, this made for a better and more exciting work experience for both. Clenton worked  for Harry Bagsasarian at Harry's Toy Shop and Amos Emerzian driving the company laundry truck.

In 1962 Clenton began his  career with Finance & Thrift Company of Porterville, shortly thereafter being transferred to the Selma F &T location where he dedicated 39 years of employment until his retirement in 2001.   Clenton served as  branch manager, area supervisor and Vice President while being a mentor and friend to many.  His keen sense of business and eagerness to help others succeed in business ventures led him to helping many in the community through private financing and mentorship. This willingness and passion to help others led him to be nominated as Selma Citizen of the year in 2005 as well as Selma High Alumni of the year in 1999.

Clenton served as board member of the Selma Cemetery, Chamber of Commerce and Official Ambassador to the City of Selma, as well as various car clubs and many other organizations.

Clenton had many passions in life but his most precious treasures were his family, wife Susan and children Lennie, Scott and Robin, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Clenton enjoyed family gatherings and travels with family and friends but most of all LAUGHTER.  Family gatherings were always filled with belly busting laughter,  music and singing..

Clenton was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ starting in Kingsburg, CA where he was song leader and in 1980 transferring to The College Church of Christ in Fresno, Ca.  Clenton became a worship team member and enjoyed many years of singing along side his daughter Robin.  Clenton was gifted with a beautiful tenor voice  and breathtaking ability to harmonize.  Clenton loved Elvis Presley and always felt a deep connection to his music and his life.

Clenton enjoyed motorcycles, boats and cars.  With his impeccable taste in design, attention to detail and wild color combinations his boats and cars received many awards. Most memorable being awarded at Blackie Gejeian's Fresno Autorama where throughout the years he had the privilege of being invited back with different boats and classic cars as well. As a classic car enthusiast Clenton became a Concurs D' elegance car judge and classic car appraiser.

Clenton was a Christian man of high morals leaving his character and hard working nature unquestioned, his deep love of family and his desire to see people succeed, never give up and always push harder made him an invaluable husband, father and friend.  He had an uncanny ability to "read people"  rarely if ever did he get it wrong.  He  believed that people will "tell you" who they are but it was best to wait and let them "show you"  who they are.

Clenton is survived by his wife Susan Wells of 66 years, his children Lennie Wells with wife Ruby of Selma Ca, Scott Wells with wife Joyce of Fresno Ca, Robin Paboojian with husband Greg of Liberty Lake, WA., six Grandchildren April Allen, Kristen Chavez, Luke Paboojian, Sayer Paboojian, Jordan Paboojian, Clint Wells and seven Great grandchildren.
