Obituary

Clifton Jack Begley Jr. was born on June 29, 1934 in San Bernardino, California to Sally and Jack Begley. He spent his youth growing up in Southern California and his high school and Jr. College years in Bakersfield. After attending UCLA he joined the Army and served from 1955- 1957.

Jack received his Masters Degree in mathematics from FSU and taught at every level from elementary through college extension classes at Fresno City College

and Fresno State. When he was a senior at East Bakersfield High School he and his best friend were Yell Leaders. He met and married Wanda Elsey who was from Portland, Oregon. They both taught school in Bakersfield and Fresno.

Jack was a man of many talents and interests. Whatever he set out to do he accomplished with skill and determination. He always cooked the family meals and to hone his passion for cooking he enrolled in cooking classes sponsored by Sauce for the Goose. Family and friends were treated to his culinary talent.

If there were a job that needed to be dealt with he was your man for the project from building a wall to separate the dining room and kitchen, building a backyard fence, building a cinder block wall, landscaping two of our yards but also a couple neighbor's, roofing a 2,000 sq ft. house by himself, painting houses, becoming a Master Gardener and building two large greenhouses in our backyard where he grew African violets and cutting for Belmont Nursery. One year he was president of the Fresno African Violet Society. When our pool was put in he laid the brick deck. Jack had a work ethic that was unmatched.

Beyond all his accomplishments his greatest joy was a kind and loving family.

Jack is preceded by Sally and Roland Windmueller, Hazel and Jack Begley Sr. and brother Cody. He is survived by Wanda Elsey Begley; and his children Julie and Mark; his son in law, Randy and daughter in law, Carlita; his grandchildren Emma, William, and Cleo and great grandchild Ada; his siblings Judy, Karen and Suzie; and sister in law, Linda. And many nieces and nephews. Jack passed away after a short illness at St. Agnes Hospital on August 12, 2024. He will be missed every day until we are all united with loved ones in heaven.
