Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Constance Jeanne Kite, "Connie," of Fresno, CA, who departed this life on May 23, 2025, at the age of 82.

Connie radiated warmth, grace, and compassion. She welcomed everyone she met with kindness and made all feel instantly at home in her presence. Elegant and always put together, she had a timeless sense of style and an even more beautiful spirit.

A devoted Catholic, Connie lived her life guided by faith and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from being deeply involved in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Whether cheering them on at events, hosting sleepovers, offering comforting hugs, or sharing gentle words of encouragement, her love was always felt.

She proudly dedicated over 30 years to education as a reading resource teacher in the Fresno Unified School District, touching the lives of countless students with her patience and care. Earning her master's degree was one of her proudest accomplishments, a testament to her determination and passion for learning.

Her life was rich not only in love but in experience. She had an active and joyful social life belonging to three Bunco groups, attending and hosting dinner parties and plays, and traveling the world. Her journeys took her to China, across Europe, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the United States always with curiosity and delight.

She also gave generously of her time, volunteering for causes close to her heart, including the Junior League of Fresno and Holiday Boutique supporting Valley Children's Hospital.

Connie is survived by her son, Gary Sorrick and wife Sonja, grandchildren Kayla, Kamryn, and Brenden; her daughter, Megan Nelson and husband Matthew, grandchildren Carson, Bennett, Jack, and Michael; her sister, Kathy Haines and husband Mike; and nieces Kelley Haines and Carrie Payne husband Mark, along with grandnephews Connor and Zachary Kolostian and Ryan and Grayson Payne. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Sorrick, parents John and Lucille Havey and husband Roger Kite.

A Requiem Mass will be held on June 9, beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Newman Center in Fresno. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather immediately following Mass at the Fresno Breakfast House for brunch and to share fond memories. A graveside service will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Coalinga, CA, at 3:00 p.m.

Her light, love, and legacy will forever live on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
