Daisy Wong
June 28, 1934 – August 26, 2026
Daisy Wong was born on June 28, 1934, in Santa Rosa, California, to John and Gong Shee Wing. Growing up in Santa Rosa with her four siblings, Daisy worked at her father’s grocery store, Diamond Market, and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1952.
After taking a train from Santa Rosa to Hanford to attend a Chinese picnic, Daisy met the love of her life, Donald Wong, who thought she was “quite the dish” as he put it! While Donald was on leave from the Air Force for Christmas, they had a small, intimate wedding in Ukiah, California, on December 28, 1955. Daisy was his bride for nearly 63 years. Together they had two children, Rachelle and Mark.
Daisy worked as a bank teller for Bank of America’s West Fresno branch for 38 years. She loved to interact with people and was good with numbers! She was well-known and well-loved by her customers and colleagues. When offered a promotion, she decided to turn it down because she wanted to maintain her relationships with her beloved customers. Even after she left Bank of America, Daisy would run into former customers who remembered her fondly as a friendly face with a warm smile and a sweet heart. Well into her 90s, Daisy was even recognized at her rest home by one of her former customers who told her that she was her favorite bank teller!
Daisy had lots of fun hobbies! She loved to knit and crochet and made countless blankets and towels for family, friends, and community members. We will greatly miss her signature towels in our kitchens! Daisy was an expert bargain shopper—from movies to toiletries, from clothing to grocery items, she made sure that both she and her loved ones were fully stocked! Before Amazon existed, there was Daisy who most likely had what you were looking for, so you were expected to check with her first! Daisy loved to ballroom dance with Donald. Together they took lessons during their retirement, performing for 15 years, and they were quite good! Donald and Daisy also loved to travel with family and friends. They explored many parts of the United States as well as China and Thailand. Through all of Daisy’s shopping, dancing, and travels she never knew a stranger and continued to make many wonderful friends along the way!
Daisy deeply cherished her husband, her 2 children, her 4 grandchildren, and her 10 great-grandchildren. She showed her love by being present in each of their lives, never missing a game or recital and opening up her home for many sleepovers and playtime with her grandchildren. She was thoughtful, generous, loyal, friendly, and sentimental. But by far the most important thing about Daisy Wong is that she placed her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 92, Daisy went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ. She is deeply loved and deeply missed by her family.
Daisy is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents, John and Gong Shee Wing, her brothers, Willy and Donnie, and her sister, May Hop.
She is survived by her brother, Eugene Wing & his wife, Lin; her daughter, Rachelle & her husband, Don Fahrney; her son, Mark Wong; her grandchildren: Erin & her husband, Brent Davis, Kevin Perry & his wife, Mandy, Kasey Perry & his wife, Tina, and Patrick Fahrney; her great-grandchildren: Audrey, Wyatt & Brenton Davis, Jet, Kaleb, Ruby & Riley Perry, and Kenny, Kyper, & Kaelynn Perry; and many nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to thank A-Plus In Home Care for their loving care and support during Daisy’s last few years. She had the best caregivers!
