Obituary

Darlene J. Duerksen, "Mom and Grami", went to Heaven on June 11th, 2023.  We are grateful to be her family, her kids, her grand kids and great grandkids, and to have shared in her life. We are comforted that she is in the presence of her beloved husband Robert, her mother and father, other family and friends who passed before her, and now living with Jesus in Heaven.

Darlene was a genuinely good, kind, and positive soul.  She lived her life supportive and dedicated to others. She was strong yet gentle, always calm no matter the situation. She had impeccably beautiful handwriting that exemplified her personality. She was joyful and had an infectious laugh! She enjoyed her role in life and lived it to the best. She was a dedicated wife, supporting her husband, the love of her life during his decades long medical career and their 60-year marriage.  While at the same time, she raised seven children with love, respect, discipline, and managed the household for over 50 years. Early in her career she did volunteer work for the La Comida Guild supporting Valley Children's Hospital and for the Saint Agnes Service Guild working in the gift shop. She loved her yard, her cats, and little-known fact she loved to fish and enjoy the outdoors (she got that from her dad Steve).  She traveled the world with her husband and left an impression on everyone she met. Darlene was able to enjoy being a grandmother and great grandmother during her tenure here on Earth.  She was loved by her entire family. She was a petite but strong lady, and battled through age related health issues. She ends an era in this family and will be dearly missed.  She deserves her place, her rest and eternal peace in Heaven.  Until we see you again mom, we love you.

Darlene is survived by her sister Penny, her 7 children Debbie, Darrick, Denise, Danette, Darla, Diana and Darren, 3 son-in-laws, 1 daughter-in-law, 8 grandchildren, and 14 great grand children with one more on the way.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date
