David "Dave" Gary Brandl, 78, of Clovis CA, passed away on March 7, 2024.  Born in Omaha NE on April 18, 1945 to Joe and Dorothy Brandl, Dave was the first of 4 children. After graduating from San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1964, Dave began his college career at Fresno State. While sitting out a semester, he was drafted to the United States Army. After serving his country, he graduated from Fresno State earning his Bachelor of Science in biology in 1971.

Dave began working for the USDA in 1971 as a Biological Technician and eventually earned the title of Entomologist before retiring in 2011. He loved his job and made many friends through his work. He spent some time in Haiti while working with the USDA, and it became a point of interest throughout his life.

Dave was an active member of the Fresno Philatelic Society Stamp Club, and served on their board for many years. He was also an avid camper, spending many trips in the desert with his family and friends. Dave also loved card games, especially solitaire, bridge, cribbage, hearts, and backgammon, and enjoyed game nights with a group of long time friends every month.

He leaves behind his two sons, Jeremy and Jonathon Brandl; their spouse's, Suzanne and Kristy; and grandchildren, Cole, Anabelle, Carter, Addison, Carly, and Cadence. He also leaves behind his sister, Barbara Brandl, and her spouse Kurt Hupp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Dorothy, and his brothers, Dan and Bob.
