Obituary

David L. Waring, 77, of Fresno CA, passed away on March 19, 2024, after a valiant fight from Progressive Supra-Nuclear Palsy.

David L. Waring was born on January 28, 1947, to Richard and Genave Waring in Fresno, California. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1964, he joined the United States Navy and served his country until 1967. Education was paramount to David, he received an Associate of Arts degree in History from Fresno City College, an Associate Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree, Arts in Sociology from State University of New York, Stony Brook.

During his time at Stony Brook, David received a Nationwide Scholarship to the La Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Columbia, where he studied politics. David embarked on a life changing adventure and moved to Medellin, Colombia as the coordinator of SUNY Foreign Area Study Program. The move to Colombia opened the door to adventure as he explored parts of Ecuador, Peru, and Mexico.

Upon his return to California in 1975 David worked for many prestigious University's in California to include Santa Cruz and San Diego. On January 24, 1986, David became a proud father to his beautiful daughter Nikki. Years later, in 1995 David met the love of his life Linda. One spin around the dance floor was all it took for David to know he had met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. David and Linda were married July 27, 1996. Together they built a beautiful life with their four children.

As all good things come to an end, David retired in 2010 from Reedley Community College after 19 years as the Outreach and Matriculation Coordinator to begin a new chapter of life. David and Linda traveled the world together making a lifetime of memories, from Columbia, Costa Rica, Panama and so many others in between. David loved spending time with his family, especially his 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. To say David was a book worm would be an understatement, he had a true love for reading and learning. David was a devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, grandpa, friend, and teacher.

David was predeceased by his mother Genave Warning and his father Richard Waring. David is survived by his loving wife Linda, his brother Dennis, his children Nikki (Danny), Brandon (Annette), Nichole (Tony) and Morgan (Jayme), his grandchildren, Brandt, Bryant, Cullen, Kacy, Hailey, Caden, Brayden, Payton, Jaxson, and Emma, and one Great-Grandchild Willow.

On behalf of Linda and her immediate family, they would like to express their sincerest gratitude to everyone for all the love, support, kind words and gestures over the past week. We are extremely grateful, and it has helped carry us through this most difficult time.
