Obituary

Dorothy Guido Brink, age 92, was born on May 12, 1932, in Fresno, CA and passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024. Born during the Great Depression to her Italian immigrant parents, Vincenza Lambetecchio and Dominico Guido, Dorothy learned to have a strong work ethic from a very early age. Dorothy grew up on the west side of Fresno in the Italian-American community, where everyone was considered family. She spent her summers picking apricots and peaches, and spending time in the outdoor "summer kitchen," where her mama would spend her days cooking and her papa would serve his homemade wine and play the harmonica. She spoke very fondly of her childhood, where she was encompassed by a simple, loving environment, with her four siblings: Frank, Marie, Vito and Beverly. She loved her siblings dearly and often told stories of their humble childhood. Dorothy went to school at Seventh Day Adventist Academy.

In May of 1950, she married Ned Joseph Brink, and together they raised seven children. Dorothy spent her life as a devoted, loving wife and homemaker. Every day, she greeted her children home from school with a smile on her face and served a home cooked meal each evening. Dorothy loved the mountains and the beach, and loved spending time with her family camping at Fish Camp or Avila Beach in the summer. Dorothy spent her life in service of her family, her pride and joy. She found strength and inspiration in her personal faith, which guided her every step.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Beverly Dyer, her seven children, Ned Brink (Margie), Nora Balestreri (George), David Brink (Floria), Sandra Brink, Lorraine Brink Rodriguez, Maria Hustedde (Ken), and Suzen Brink Montes. Her legacy continues with her 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Dorothy's family would like to thank the Hinds Hospice staff, especially Melorie, Mya, Aman, Nou, and Guadalupe for their kindness and compassion.

A Memorial Service will be held on July 23, 2024 at Belmont Memorial Park at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make remembrances to Hinds Hospice.
