Edgar Waltrip, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather left this world for his eternal home on August 17, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on January 19, 1936, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Edgar's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the simple joys of life.

Edgar spent his early years in the heart of Oklahoma, where he developed a love for the outdoors and a knack for fixing anything with an engine. His hands were rarely clean, signifying a day's work well-done, whether it was tending to animals on the small farm he owned with goats, chickens, milk cows, or restoring a car in his garage. Edgar's love for working on cars was surpassed only by his love for fishing, a pastime he often enjoyed in the company of his adoring family.

Family was the cornerstone of Edgar's life. He was married twice, and had 5 sons. He moved to California at age 18 where he married his beloved wife Betty of 57 years. Together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and the pitter-patter of little feet that grew into a large and boisterous family. Edgar was a guiding force in the lives of his 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom he loved with all his heart.

Edgar's siblings, 12 brothers and sisters, shared in the many adventures and moments that shaped their lives. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond, a circle of trust and support that endured through the years.

Those who knew Edgar will remember him as the excellent handyman. There was no task too big or too small for him to tackle. This was evident in the fact that he accomplished everything with just one arm. His hand, though often stained with grease or soil, were always ready to help, to build, or to gently hold a fishing rod as he taught his grandkids the patience and skill required to reel in a catch.

Edgar's passing in Castle, Oklahoma, marks the end of an era for those who knew and loved him. His work ethic, his love for animals and cars, and his unwavering commitment to his family are the hallmarks of a life well-lived. Edgar's presence will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire future generations.

Edgar is survived by his sons Eddie Waltrip, Jacky L Waltrip (wife Carolyn), Terry Waltrip, and Tracy Waltrip (wife Betsy).

Edgar is proceeded in death by his father and mother, Wayne and Bessie Waltrip, his wife Betty Waltrip, Sister Judy Waltrip, Brother Bobbie Waltrip, Son Johnny Waltrip, Granddaughter Angela Waltrip, and Grandson Johnny Waltrip.
