Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Perez

Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Perez, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Fresno, CA. Born on November 5, 1934, in Los Angeles, CA, Elizabeth lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and church.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She embraced her Catholic faith with joy and love, creating a home that was a sanctuary for family and friends. As a homemaker, she skillfully raised five children. In addition to her nurturing spirit, she earned an Associate of Arts degree and was a talented seamstress who delighted in various crafts.

Together with her husband, Gilbert, Betty enjoyed an active lifestyle, participating in tennis, volleyball, racquetball, and fishing. Their bond and shared passions were a testament to their 62 years of marriage.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Homer Wood; her beloved husband, Gilbert; her son, Gilbert; and her granddaughter, Alicia.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon Christison and her husband Jeen; her sons Frank and his wife Colleen, Gene and his wife Susan, and Paul; her daughter-in-law Letty; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty's life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her legacy of love, faith, and family will endure in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by a Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 5770 N. Maroa Ave., Fresno, CA, on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave., Fresno, CA.
