Em Sensney
May 15, 1951 - July 7, 2023
Em Sensney, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, unexpectedly passed away on July 7, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a profound legacy. He was born on May 15, 1951, in Stockton, California, to Emison and Bernice Sensney.
Em is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Marilyn Sensney, and his children: sons Ryan (Amy) of Modesto and Adam (Audrey) of Walnut Creek, and daughter Rebecca Wagner (Eric) of Modesto. Em was also a caring stepfather to Grant Galloway, Shelby Rider (Justin), and Kent Galloway (Brynna). He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Ben and Mia Sensney, Ginger and Graham Sensney, Shawn, Caleb, and Joshua Rider. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Cindy Salter (Steve) and niece and nephew.
Em loved golf, which began at the age of five when his father taught him how to play at Swenson Park in Stockton, California. He dedicated himself to the sport and earned a golf scholarship at Fresno State University (1969-1974). Later he passed his love of the game to his children.
During his time at Fresno State, Em joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, where he made lifelong friends. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1974.
Em and his wife Marilyn loved traveling together, especially going on road trips. They went on numerous adventures, exploring destinations like Hawaii, Alaska, Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, New York, Santa Fe, Memphis, Nashville, and Texas. These trips allowed them to create lasting memories.
Em loved all kinds of sports, both playing and watching. In the past he participated in snow and water skiing, as well as hiking. In recent years, he and his wife discovered great happiness on Bass Lake, where they spent wonderful times on their pontoon boat. Often, family and friends would join, where he especially enjoyed fishing with his grandkids and pulling them around the lake on the tube. Em loved cooking. He was the grill master. Everyone who got the privilege to eat his tri-tip and macaroni salad was fortunate.
When it came to watching sports, Em was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Giants, and Golden State Warriors. Also, for the sake of his wife, he even tolerated the Raiders.
Throughout his life, Em resided in various regions of California, including northern, southern, and central areas. He also lived in Phoenix, Arizona, before eventually settling near his alma mater in Fresno, California. Em had a successful career in real estate, spending 18 years in commercial before transitioning to residential, where he continued his work until his passing. Em Sensney will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have shared in his remarkable journey.
If you knew Em, you would love him. Our memories of Em are filled with laughter, love and joy, which are just some of the many reasons we were so blessed to share in his life.
A celebration of life will be held.
