Emily Paige
DeCamp
Jul 24, 1998 — Jun 14, 2026
Fresno
Emily was born in the early hours of July 24, 1998 — the first child and daughter of Brandi and Jeffrey DeCamp. She spent her younger years in Tustin, CA, before moving with her family to the Central Valley at age 7. Those early years were filled with trips to Disneyland, family camping adventures, and an endless enthusiasm for trying new activities and sports.
As a teenager, Emily found her stride in cross country running and competitive swimming, while also making time for chess club and the art of computer coding. It was during these years that she discovered some of her most beloved fandoms — among them Doctor Who — and became an enthusiastic presence in online communities. Emily was a voracious reader and a gifted writer who loved crafting fan fiction alongside original works, and she took her role as a moderator on several sites seriously, working to make those spaces welcoming and safe for everyone.
Emily graduated from Central High in 2016. At the time of her passing, she was continuing her education and pursuing certification in American Sign Language, and had previously earned her lifeguard certification — a profession she worked in for several years.
After her cancer diagnosis, Emily revealed a side of herself that left many in awe. She faced her treatments with bravery and patience, and she refused to let her illness define her or slow her down. She never quit school. She traveled to London and Rome, made pilgrimages to every Harry Potter theme park she could reach, and set out on a personal mission to ride every thrill ride available to her — often outlasting everyone else as she circled back to her favorites one last time before the parks closed for the night.
Emily passed away on June 14, 2026. She is survived by a large and loving family: her parents Brandi Fleming, Jeff DeCamp, Ian Fleming, and Melissa DeCamp, her sisters Elizabeth and Willow, aunties, uncles, cousins, and nanas, all of whom will miss her more than words can say.
"It is not often someone comes along who is both a true friend and a good writer. Emily was both."
