Floyd L.
Judd
Jan 25, 1934 — Jun 4, 2024
Fresno
Floyd Judd passed away in Fresno, CA on June 4, 2024, at the age of 90. Floyd Judd was born in Wisconsin to Mabel and Frank Judd on January 24, 1934. He was raised on a farm in Wisconsin and was the youngest of 6 siblings. After high school, he hitch-hiked to the east coast and traveled through Europe on trains before he went to Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin on a football scholarship. His plans would change after his first year of college when he was in a car accident and had to have his left arm amputated. From that point on he discovered science and earned a PHD in Physics. Floyd finished his doctorate while working at Cern's Laboratory with Particle Physics in Switzerland with his new wife, Nancy, and three young children. In 1967 the family moved to Fresno, California where Floyd taught Physics at Fresno State for the next 36 years. Floyd was an avid skier, adventure traveler, and loved football, especially the Green Bay Packers and the Fresno State Bulldogs. His love for football would lead him to his second wife and the love of his life, Sharon Judd. The two of them traveled the world, exploring 6 continents together, attended New Covenant Church, were active Optimist and Sierra Club supporters and civil rights advocates. They danced together often in their kitchen, loved their Hawaiian wear and enjoyed spending time with their families, especially their grandchildren.
Floyd was an extremely intelligent man who loved science and our planet but worried about the damage humans have done. He was an advocate for Earth's care, protection, and world peace. He believed we need to protect the environment and put the planet above profit. As Floyd would say, we only have one planet Earth and it is stunningly beautiful and spectacular, but it needs our help.
Floyd is predeceased by his wife, Sharon. Floyd's legacy is carried forward by his children: Greg (Leann) Judd, Teri Shelley, Kristin (Mike) Weatherson and Stepsons: Will(Trish) Bartel, Dan (Kirsten) Bartel, Jonathan (Rachel) Bartel, and 16 grandchildren.
Floyd lived a long, full, happy life and has left his loved ones with so many wonderful memories, much love, life's lessons, and a love for adventure and travel.
Celebration of life for Floyd will be held at 11:00 am. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at New Covenant Church, 1744 E. Nees Ave. Fresno CA. Floyd loved Hawaii so please wear your Aloha clothing.
