George Briner, 79, passed away on January 24, 2026, in Fresno, CA. George was born on September 27, 1946 in Madera, CA, to Orville Briner and Gladys (Drinnen) Briner. After graduating from Chowchilla High School in 1965, George moved to Fresno where he attended Fresno City College. George began working at several local gas stations, owned by Harlan and Joe Bailey, his future father-in-law and uncle-in-law followed by working for beverage companies. In 1985, George made the leap to go into business for himself starting a landscape maintenance business which ultimately grew into Briner and Son Landscape Management. George was able to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary last month.

George married JoRene Bailey on August 9, 1969 in Fresno and were blessed to celebrate 56 years together. The couple have 3 children: Eric, Sara, and April. George was known for his friendly personality, his work ethic and his love to putter and tinker on projects. He was loved by all and will be missed by so many.

George is survived by his beloved wife JoRene, son Eric (Elizabeth) Briner, daughter Sara (Eric) Karlson, daughter April (Cliff) Carey, grandson Colton (Kiley) Briner, great-grandsons, Casey, Morgan and Carson, grandchildren Zac Briner, Ethan Briner, Dawson Briner, Wyatt Ward, Arianna Ward, Mason Sweetin, Samuel Karlson, Benjamin Karlson, Georgia Karlson, Charlotte Karlson, Peter Carey, Titus Carey, Audrey Carey and Emilia Carey.

He is preceded in death by his parents Orville and Gladys Briner, sisters Jean Briner, Faye Bailey, and Maxine Briner, brother, Lloyd Briner, and granddaughter Elyse Carey.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 1:00pm, at Peoples Church, Fresno, California, 7172 N. Cedar Avenue, Fresno, CA 93720, G.L. Johnson Chapel.

Visitation: Friday, February 6 at 5-7pm at Farewell Funeral Services, 660 W Locust Ave # 101, Fresno, CA 93650.

Burial: Clovis Cemetery, Clovis, California, Saturday, February 7 at 10:00am.
