Obituary

Gloria Marie Payne
November 28, 1943 - May 17, 2024

Gloria was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, whose deep care for others left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered along with her beautiful smile.

Born to Henry and Erma Roth, Gloria was the cherished middle child in a loving family. She was the devoted wife of George Payne and a supportive sister to Janice Ventura, married to John Ventura, and brother Dennis Roth, married to Teresa Roth. Gloria was also a beloved aunt to her niece Cathy Guaglianone and her husband David, nephew Todd Ventura and his wife Lynette, and nephew Jason Roth and his wife Tara. Also nieces Susanne and husband George Huddleston and Jill and husband Alan Israel. Her legacy extends further to many great and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.

Gloria's life was a testament to selflessness and dedication. She was a devoted caregiver to her parents and worked alongside her husband George in their beauty shop, where their partnership flourished both personally and professionally. After George's passing, Gloria continued to demonstrate her resilience and versatility by working for Beef Packers and Cargill as a receptionist and event planner. She orchestrated numerous company events, relishing every moment and bringing joy to her colleagues.

Gloria had a passion for baking, especially during the holiday season. Her Christmas fruit cakes and cookies were eagerly anticipated treats, and her home transformed into a holiday wonderland each year. She and George took great delight in going all out for Christmas, hosting magnificent holiday parties that brought joy to all who attended. Gloria's love for entertaining extended beyond the holiday season; she hosted numerous memorable parties, always welcoming guests with open arms and a warm heart.

Known for her ability to connect with people, Gloria never met a stranger.

As Gloria battled pancreatic cancer she was fortunate to have caring family, friends, neighbors, and caregivers who tended to her needs with compassion and dedication. The family is profoundly grateful for their support and love.

Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and warmth will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Rest in peace, Gloria. Your spirit will forever be a part of us.
