Ismael
Garcia
Sep 12, 1963 — Feb 26, 2025
Selma
Ismael Garcia was born in Fresno on September 12, 1963 and joined his parents in heaven on February 26, 2025. He lived his whole life in Selma where he made many friends along the way. Growing up he loved lowrider cars and was a member of the Valley Superiors car club. He was proud of his 1979 T-bird lowrider with T-tops that many people remember him for. As a teenager he worked in the fields with his parents after school. At the age of 19 he started working at Harris Rach where he was given the nickname "lowrider" that stuck with him for the rest of his life. He was a butcher for about 15 years, and he would tell us kids about how fast he was and all the stories of the friends he made during those years. He then began a new career at Weyerhaeuser in Sanger where he was a machine operator for 10 years. He wanted something different, so he made a big change and became a bus driver for Fresno Unified. He enjoyed this job so much. He would make up songs getting ready for work and even trade the student his chicharrónes for his favorite school snacks when they got on his bus to go home. Avenal State Prison was the last job he had as a custodian supervisor. He enjoyed working there and would talk about his coworkers often. He never had issues with the inmates he supervised because he always treated everyone with respect.
He met the love of his life Rosie in 1984 on Kings Canyon where he swore she put her head out the limo and yelled "Ismael I want you". She will say otherwise but we all loved hearing him tell that story. They married in 1986 in Fresno, California and moved to Selma to start their family. They were married for 38 and a half years. They had 3 beautiful children and 7 grandchildren. He loved his wife and would spoil her like crazy. He made it point to take his children on vacations and every year his favorite trip was to Cayucos' for the 4th of July.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Rosalie Garicia. Daughter and Son-in-law Steven and Davina Mares, Son and Daughter-in-law Ismael and Alexis Garcia and his miracle baby Matthew Garcia. 7 Grandchildren- Mahkaylah, Angel, Levi and Mahkenzley Garcia; Jedidiah Steven and Alexander Mares. Brother and Sister-in-law Juan and Josie Garica and Sister Maira Betancourt. Many Nieces, Nephews, cousins and many many friends who he considered family. Ismael is proceeded in death by his Father and Mother Arcadio and Aurora Garcia, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Angel and Catalina Rodriguez, Brother-in-law Gilbert Betancourt, Paternal Grandparents Cesario and Maria Garcia and Maternal Grandparents Manuel and Julia Camarillo.
