Janet Belt
April 4, 1939 - November 18, 2025
Jan was born in Grand Junction, CO and lived there until moving with her parents and siblings to Roads End, CA while in elementary school. Her family moved to Caruthers, CA when her dad accepted the superintendent/principal position at Alvina Elementary School during her high school years. It was there at Caruthers High School that she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Sid Belt. Jan & Sid have two sons, Jim & Kirk, daughter-in-law, Debbie, three grandchildren, Maribeth, Jared and Lauren along with four great-granddaughters.
Jan attended Fresno State College and graduated with a degree in elementary education. She started teaching for Clovis Unified, teaching at Tarpey and Jefferson Elementary. She remained in education off and on for many years in Grants Pass, OR and other county schools here in the Central Valley until retiring from teaching in the mid 2000's so she could work side by side with Sid at their livestock auction in Easton, Fresno Livestock and ranch, Belt Farms.
Even though she and Sid kept themselves extremely busy with the ranch and family, they found time to be very active in Fresno County Juvenile Hall Ministry for nearly 10 years. The two made for a very impactful ministry duo to hundreds of at-risk kids over the years. Jan was a true prayer warrior and all who knew her recognized her unwavering faith in our God and the extreme power of prayer.
Jan had two major loves in her life, her family and ministry. She was never too busy to spend quality time with her three grandkids and always made sure that her family spent quality time together. As great-granddaughters arrived into her family, that love extended immediately to all four of her "precious great grandkids".
Jan had an infectious positive impact to all who knew her. Jan's never-waning energy and excitement about life, family and The Lord will be forever part of her legacy and she will be truly missed….Jan was one of a kind.
