James Edward Griffin

November 28, 1954 – April 20, 2025

James Edward Griffin, 70, of Clovis, CA, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025

Jim was born in Madera CA to Johnny & Ima Griffin.   At an early age, he developed an interest in motorcycles & ended up becoming an award winning flat track & motorcross racer & continued to live his life with a spirit of adventure.  He learned the tradition of hard work & skills in the painting trade while working with his father in his painting business.

He then went to work on the fuel line for Beechcraft West at the Fresno Airport in the 1970's where he had the opportunity to meet up with legendary performers including Elvis, Ray Charles, the Doobie Brothers, Rod Stewart & Charlie Pride.

Another favorite hobby was sailing.  After becoming an avid sailor, he eventually led the Lido Fleet up at Millerton Lake & enjoyed racing & testing out his skills.  His real pleasure was always enjoying the peacefulness of listening to the wind in the sails while gliding across the water.

Jim also served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Medical Lab Technician after which he built a dedicated career as an office equipment technician for National Copy Co & Roy's Office Equipment Center.

A true craftsman, a "Mighty Woodsman" & an adventurer at heart, Jim loved cooking, creating a variety of hot sauces, woodworking, painting landscapes & writing poetry, traveling to places like Jamaica, Bahamas, Sedona AZ.   He also loved the old sounds of Classic Country Music, Jimmy Buffet,  Reggae & knew all the words!

Jim is survived by his wife, Roycelyn, of almost 43 years; sister LaLania Grace Rapp (Doug), nieces Alexandra & Cassandra Rapp; his Uncle Dalton Griffin (Barbara) & son Eric (Erin & family); cousins Myra Stephenson, Vicki Ornelas (Rodney & family) & many other extended family members in Texas.

His creativity, warmth, love & determination touched all who knew him & will be truly missed by all.
