John Anthony Direito,  passed away on November 11, 2025.

John Anthony Direito,  passed away on November 11, 2025.

John was born on October 14, 1976, in Wasco, CA, to Johnny Direito and Darla Timmer. John spent his youth playing baseball, basketball, and football, later continuing to play football at Fresno City College. John was a gifted person in many ways, he was musically talented and played several instruments, including the saxophone. He enjoyed staying in Shaver Lake with his family and friends, where he spent winters snowboarding and summers water-skiing behind 'Sparkle'.

John began his construction journey working at B&L Mechanical where he learned how to work with sheet metal. He then moved on to working under his stepfather's scaffolding company, RJ Wayte & Sons, where he further developed the skills and work ethic that shaped his career. He went on to pass his insurance broker exam, advance to a Journeyman Foreman in construction, and eventually become a successful business owner and operator of his rain gutter company.

If you knew John Anthony, you knew his unmatched ability to fill a room with warmth and laughter. His infectious laugh, flawless movie impressions, and spontaneous singing and dancing brought joy to everyone lucky enough to cross his path. He will be missed dearly by all those who loved and cared for him.

John is survived by his wife, Melissa Hughes; his children, Chase, Jada, and Caleb Direito; and his stepchildren, Andrue and Colby Lackey, and Briley Hernandez. He is also survived by his sister, Shannon Direito; his brother-in-law, Matt Winterburn; his niece, Kaya Winterburn; and his step-sister, Jodi Wayte. In addition, he is survived by his father, Johnny Direito; his mother, Darla Timmer; and his stepfather, Bob Timmer. Along with his father in law, Leonard Hughes; his mother in law Rosemary Hughes; and his brother in laws Kevin and Jared Hughes. He leaves behind his step-grandchildren, Reagan, Reese, and Remington Lackey. John was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ray Wayte.
