Johnny Lujan of Fresno, California passed away on July 22nd 2023 at the age of 75, with his family lovingly by his side.

Johnny was born on August 9, 1947 to Jimmie and Inez Lujan in Fresno. At the age of 13 he took an interest in boxing and joined the Boys Club where his training began. Johnny received the Golden Gloves Championship both in San Francisco and Los Angeles in 1963 and 1964, respectively. He began boxing professionally during his senior year of high school, before graduating in 1966 from Washington Union. He was known as Johnny "The Comet" Lujan and was featured in newspaper articles and The Ring magazine.

In 1969 Johnny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from boot camp at Camp Pendleton before being stationed in Okinawa, Japan and eventually called to serve in the Vietnam War. He served as a point man guiding his fellow marines. Johnny served the US Marine Corps until 1971. Following his service, he was employed with the City of Fresno for 34 ½ years working in Parks and Recreation and the Streets Division.

Johnny's hobbies over the course of his life were coaching baseball/softball, bowling, golfing, and gardening. Johnny enjoyed participating in the Fresno Veterans Day Parades. He was also a loyal Raiders fan and enjoyed watching his Raiders' games on Sunday and Monday night football.

Johnny is survived by his wife, of 27 years, Cherie; his children, Anita (Alonso) Haro, Cindy (Richard) Garcia, Johnny (Ana) Lujan Jr, Tammy Stanislas, and Janelle Lujan; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Inez Lujan; his siblings Ana Marie Rosales, Lucy Lujan, Daniel Lujan, and Moses Lujan along with many nieces and nephews.

Johnny is preceded in death by his father Jimmie Lujan; brother Jimmie Lujan Jr.; grandsons Christopher Stanislas and Phillip Zamora.

He would also want us to mention he is survived by his beloved dog Pebbles, who brought him much joy.
