Joe was born in Fresno. He served in the Marines from 1957 to 1964. When returning from his service of duty, he drove a truck working in produce.

In 1978, he left Fresno and moved to the Bay Area and drove for PMT Auto transport and retired after 36 years with them. He loved going to the gym and taking long walks. Joe moved back to Fresno in 2017 where he lived the remainder of his life. He has left behind his wife of 43 years, three children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren and last, but not least three fur babies his mind is now at peace.
