Joyce Romano Pietro

Joyce Angela Romano was born on July 27, 1932 to John D. Romano and Sara Renna Romano. She grew up on the West Side of Fresno and attended Columbia Elementary School, and Edison Junior and Senior High School. After graduation, she attended College of the Pacific (now University of the Pacific) in Stockton, California. While home from college, she met her love and eventual husband of more than 60 years, John R. Pietro, while he was playing as a professional musician at the Plantation Club in Fresno. They were married on October 24, 1953 and raised two sons. Once the boys went to college, Joyce returned to the family business, Valley Office, and took great pride in her many years managing it in partnership with her husband John.

She had many diverse and longtime relationships across the community of Fresno, and was a loving daughter, sister, and cousin, and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and godmother. She was preceded in death by her husband John R. Pietro, her sister and best friend Patricia Levy, and beloved eldest son Dr. Timothy Pietro. She is survived and remembered fondly by her granddaughters, daughter-in-law, godchildren, and many beloved cousins. At 91, on her and John's 70th wedding anniversary, she passed peacefully at home.
