Juan Jose Rodriguez loving husband, father, and fierce Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) warrior, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday August 27, 2023. He was 44. Juan is survived by his wife of 21 years, Tomasita and their two boys Christopher and Bejamin. He is also survived by his mother, Natividad Rodriguez, and siblings Gustavo Rodriguez, Mercedes Bailey, Marta Burd, and Jorge Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his dad, Jose Rodriguez.
Juan was born in Porterville California on June 8, 1979. He attended Olive Street Elementary, Bartlett Junior High, and graduated from Porterville High School in 1997. In 2001, he graduated from Porterville College and then earned a Bachelor's Degree from University of Phoenix in 2006. Juan loved the industrial trades and held jobs with Transmission Service Center, Snap-On Tools, The Home Depot, and Makita Tools before finding his true passion for teaching as a Trainer and Technical Communicator at Quinn Company. He worked at Quinn Company for 10 years while serving as an industry advisor, program supporter, and adjunct instructor at Reedley College. Juan joined the Ag Mechanics Department as a full-time instructor in 2017. He created and designed a On Highway truck program as well as taught courses in Electrical, Powertrains, Undercarriage, and Machine Systems. Juan was diagnosed with ALS in April of 2021 and despite his progressive condition he continued to serve his students because ultimately it brought him joy.
Juan loved the outdoors, wood working and being a DIYer. He prioritized spending time with his family by coaching his boys' soccer teams, playing board games, and traveling. Juan's faith, positive attitude, and signature smile never wavered. He was truly an inspiration, touched the lives of all that met him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
