Julia Ann
Etherton
Mar 4, 1942 — Aug 3, 2025
Fresno
Julia Ann Etherton, age 83, of Fresno California passed away August 3, 2025 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno and went home to be with Jesus. She was born March 4, 1942 in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Ralph and Juanita (Loy) Blackwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tom Blackwood and his wife Norma, and an infant brother Ralph Loy Blackwood. She is survived by her husband Jim Etherton, who she married March 19 1960, her son Bill Etherton and his wife Shellie, her granddaughter Lyndsie of Baltimore Maryland, brother-in-law Richard Etherton of Carbondale Illinois, and nephew Tommy Blackwood of Vergennes, Illinois. And we cannot omit her furry, four-legged friend Abby, who she adopted and adored.
She was a longtime member and faithful attender and supporter of Northpointe Community Church and a homemaker. She was a tremendous supporter of her husband, whose career took them Illinois to Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, and eventually California. One of her passions was cheering on Bill and eventually Lyndsie, as they both excelled as distance runners. She and Jim never missed any of their in-state meets from grade school through college. In recent years she enjoyed watching old movies and solving word-search puzzles.
A casual celebration of Julia's life is scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Northpointe Community Church's Bullard Campus located at 4250 W. Bullard Avenue, Fresno CA 93722. Julia loved to wear jeans so we encourage everyone to do the same.
Remembrances can be sent to your charity of choice.
