Julian Handy Garcia was born June 22, 1932 in Donna Texas. He passed away April 25, 2025 in Reedley California, with his family present.

Julian was the oldest child of Adrian Garcia and Marta (Handy) Garcia. He outlived his wife Petra and all of his siblings: George, Ofelia, Irene and Adrian.

Julian's education went through the eighth grade. His family moved from Texas to Parlier California. He worked as a farm hand for United Packing Company in Parlier, from 1948 to 1952.

In December 1952 Julian joined the United States Army as a Private First Class. In November of 1954 he received an Honorable Discharge. Corporal Julian Garcia had served in Alaska. He was released to serve in the Army Reserve for 6 more years.

In 1952 Julian met Petra Muniz. In his own words, he loved her so much it hurt! Julian and Petra have two children, Lynda and Julian.

Julian worked for Fresno Valve driving deliveries of irrigation valves. Soon he established his own company. He called it J H Garcia trucking. He owned several big rigs and trailers. He hired drivers to pick up and haul cotton, peaches, grapes and other produce. Julian was always busy. He was not only an employer, but also a driver and a mechanic. Petra worked the dispatch desk.

Julian was a long time member of the Selma Lions club. He was the pancake cook at their breakfast fundraisers. Julian used his truck to haul items for the Lions club, from the US to areas in Mexico that had a need. Sometimes it was school desks, if a school here replaced theirs. He also took eye glasses and food items to Mexico for the Lions club.

Julian leaves behind his daughter Lynda, his son Julian and wife Joanna; his granddaughters Yvonne and husband Richard, Denise and husband Johnny; his Great-grandchildren Alberny, Dustin, John, Ashlie, and Julianna; his Great-great-grandchildren Jayden, Melanie and John.
