Kirk James Filgas went to be with Jesus on October 20, 2023.

He was born on June 14, 1982 in Fresno, California, and was the eldest of two children. He is survived by his Mother Elaine Thomas, son Zachary Filgas and sister Kacie Thomas.

He attended California State University, Fresno, as a student and was studying to become a Math teacher. He was also a sign maker where he helped design and install signs for established businesses all over Fresno.

Kirk loved Jesus and made friends everywhere he went. He never met a stranger. He was active in Alcoholics Anonymous and Celebrate Recovery where he helped encourage others to turn their lives around with his own story. Growing up, he excelled in Tennis, Wrestling and Baseball.

He was known for his intelligence and could have in-depth conversations about everything from current events to history to the latest Sports game. But he was most remembered for his big heart. He had a smile that could light up the room and an infectious laugh that could turn any dark situation around.

His life was full of opportunity and he left many happy memories with friends and family. No matter the obstacle, Kirk never gave up and grounded his Faith in Isaiah 14:27, "All the forces of darkness cannot stop what God has ordained."

Kirk's Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, November 8 at 1 pm PT at Farewell Funeral Service — 660 W Locust Ave # 101, Fresno, CA 93650. All are welcome to join and celebrate Kirk's life.
