Obituary

Leon Shahanian, a beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 93 in Fresno, California.  His devoted wife of 58 years, Claudia  was by his side. Lee was born on May 10, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, to Kegham and Siroon Shahanian. His cherished sister, Margie, preceded Lee in passing. Lee attended North Hollywood High School, UCLA  and later graduated from USC.  He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Lee had a successful career as a sales representative for over fifty years, a profession he truly loved because it gave him the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life. Lee was known for his infectious laugh, warm personality, and genuine interest in others. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel valued and special. He was naturally personable, a bit of a comedian, and always left a lasting impression on those he met. A devoted sports fan, Lee loved UCLA athletics and enjoyed attending numerous college sporting events. Family meant everything to him, and he was especially proud of his many nieces and nephews. Lee welcomed everyone into his home in Northridge, California with open arms and an open heart. Throughout his life, Lee enjoyed his travels in the United States and Canada and was always present for meaningful milestones and celebrations for family and friends. In 2017, Lee and Claudia moved to Fresno, California where they enjoyed exploring local restaurants and spending time together with many relatives and friends. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to each other for nearly six decades. Lee will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Donations in memory of Lee may be made to Hinds Hospice 2490 W Shaw Ave, Suite 101 Fresno, CA 93711 or your favorite charity.
