Obituary

Bonnie Keller (M. Bonnell Keller) passed away October 16, 2026 following complications of several heart surgeries here in Fresno. She is mourned by her three sisters - Elizabeth Woodward of Missouri, Marney Sudholt of Illinois and Julie Walker of Connecticut and numerous dear friends in Fresno and on the internet where Bonnie had numerous lively discussions with people near and far.

Bonnie was born in Davenport, Iowa on August 20, 1956 to Walter and Elizabeth Keller. She was the youngest of 4 girls. Walter was a dairy farmer, raising Holstein cattle until 1971. All of the girls were raised doing farm work and grew up with a love of nature. Bonnie moved to Long Beach, California when she was 18 years old and graduated from the School of Engineering at California State University at Long Beach.

Bonnie then moved to Fresno to work for (now) Aetna insurance company as a loss control engineer. She retired in the early 2000s. She then commenced her work with local social services groups, winning numerous awards for her efforts with individuals needing mental health support.

Bonnie loved being near Yosemite and the beach and went there as often as she could. In her younger years she contemplated becoming a white water rafting guide. She also took up hiking and rappelling, pursuing that sport with gusto.

Sadly Bonnie was diagnosed with MS in the early 2000s and the effects of that disease slowly but surely slowed her down over the years. As she became more sedentary, she took to the internet chat groups like a fish to water, willing to discuss and challenge most anything or anyone. The internet became one of her lifelines.

Bonnie also willingly provided care, comfort and housing to many people in the community. Top of that list was Tanna Jackson and Tanna’s children Ayden and Krystlynn who ended up being her family. She recently attended the high school graduation for Aydan and posted a photo of the herself with them online referring to Ayden as her adopted grandson. That is just how she felt about them … they were her family.

Bonnie’s absence will be deeply felt by her family and her local community. She was definitely “one of a kind.”
