It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished and beautiful mother, Manuela M. Silva Mares.

On January 10, 2026, Manuela's earthly journey ended, and she returned to her eternal home with our Lord Jesus Christ. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who loved her, yet we take comfort knowing she is now at peace, embraced by the Savior she faithfully cherished throughout her life.

Manuela was born on February 14, 1932, in Linn, Texas, to Encarnacion and Josefa Molina. She was one of three children, blessed with one brother and one sister. At a very young age, Manuela experienced the profound loss of her parents. She was lovingly raised by her grandmother, who later relocated with her to Brownsville, Texas. It was there that Manuela met the love of her life, Richard Flores Silva.

Despite the hardships she endured early on, Manuela grew into a woman defined by her kindness, compassion, and unwavering strength. Her resilience, courage, and gentle spirit shaped the lives of all who knew her.

Manuela's infectious smile was a gift to all who knew her. Her joy was contagious, brightening even the most ordinary moments and bringing smiles to everyone she encountered. She had a unique ability to make others feel welcome and valued, leaving an impression on friends, neighbors, and acquaintances alike.

Manuela's life was a testament to warmth, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. Throughout her years, she embraced the role of a homemaker with pride and devotion.

She possessed a remarkable ability to make anything flourish, earning her the affectionate reputation of having a "green thumb." Her gardens were a vibrant reflection of her spirit: full of life, color, and beauty. Whether tending to delicate flowers or cultivating vegetables, Manuela found joy in nurturing growth, both in her plants and in the people around her.

Travel was another of Manuela's great passions. She delighted in discovering new places, and the Caribbean with its beauty and surrounding islands held a special place in her heart. Every trip was an adventure for her, a chance to embrace the world's wonders, enjoy new experiences, and create lasting memories that she carried throughout her life.

Manuela's dedication extended beyond her home and family. She participated in her community, generously volunteering her time at the polls during the election years and at the Selma Senior Center.

Above all, Manuela's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. Her support was steadfast, her affection boundless, and her presence a source of comfort and strength. She celebrated every milestone and offered guidance through challenges.

Manuela's legacy is one of great strength, love, and service. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loved ones, who will continue to honor her by living with the same generosity, curiosity, and joy that she brought to every day.

Manuela is survived by her six children: Rosalinda Vazquez, Elizabeth Whitford, Anthony Silva, Emily Silva Diaz, David Silva, and Daniel Edward Silva. She also leaves behind her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Richard Flores Silva, and her children: Mary Helen Silva, Richard Silva, Robert Silva, and Diana Silva.

Manuela's legacy of love, faith, and selfless devotion will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
