Maria Guadalupe (Lupe) Cordova passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 4th. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family and friends. We will forever miss her warm, affectionate hugs, her quick wit and sweet laugh, her amazing cooking, and the stories shared over a cup of “cafésito.”

Lupe was born on February 15, 1937, in Hidalgo, Texas. She began working with her family as a farm worker at an early age, travelling to follow the crops from Texas to Wisconsin and Illinois and back again to Texas. There, she met her husband, Alfredo, and together they started their family when she was just 19 years old. They would eventually move to California, first to Coalinga and Huron, and finally to Fresno where she would remain for the rest of her years. She went to work for Valley Industrial Services laundering and pressing uniforms and later worked at Vons. Over time, their family would grow to seven children, and she always worked hard to provide them with the best life she could, instilling in them her strong work ethic, creativity, and devotion to family.

Lupe is survived by her seven children which include Alfred, and his wife Lorenza, Diana, and her husband Joe, Carlos, and his wife Debbie, Mary Aleida, and her husband Dennis, Leticia, Martha, Sandra, and her husband Mark.

She was blessed with her grandchildren: Paul, and his wife, Nena, who was like a granddaughter to her, Carla, Sonia, Sylvestor, Alex, Eric, Aidan, and Logan.

She was also blessed to have the joy of great-grandchildren: Francine, Ernie, Jackie, Evelyn, Felix, Mia, Emma Sophia, Phoebe, and Quorra, and great-great grandchild Mateo.

Lupe was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo, her parents Genovevo and Guadalupe Trevino, her siblings Juan Pablo, Leandro, Maria Magdalena, Rebecca, Alicia, and Genevive, and her son-in-law D’Arcy Tong.

The family would like to thank all of those who have extended their love, prayers, and kind words of comfort during this time.
