Mary Louise Johansen, affectionately known as Mary Lou, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, her spirit unwavering as she journeyed toward Heaven's gates. Born in Dixon, Illinois, on October 10, 1932, to Sarah Rachel and George Platten, Mary Lou lived a life marked by deep faith, resilience, and boundless love.

In 1948, Mary Lou moved to California, where she would soon meet and marry the love of her life, J.O.A. Johansen. Together, they built a beautiful life and family. When J.O.A. passed away in 1962, Mary Lou, with steadfast courage, moved from Easton to Fresno to raise her girls with love and determination. She is survived by her three children: Marcia Kraft (husband Rod), Nancy Luchetti (husband Jeff), and Scott Kelley. Her legacy of warmth and kindness continues in her ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her values and memories.

After raising her family, Mary Lou dedicated herself to a career with Fresno Unified School District as a secretary and administrative assistant, where she served with dedication for 28 years. Following her retirement, she continued to share her talents as a legal administrative assistant with Felger and Associates, where she was known for the special bonds she formed with colleagues and clients alike.

A devoted volunteer, Mary Lou lived a life of service. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a Sunday school teacher at Hope Lutheran Church, a St. Agnes volunteer, and an active member and past president of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). Her heart's passion, however, was her work with LARCS, where she volunteered for 32 years, serving as a past president. Her commitment to her community was evident to all who knew her.

Faith was the cornerstone of Mary Lou's life, guiding her to nurture her spiritual connection with friends through the Silver Connection Bible study, which she cherished for many years. She loved cooking and sharing her favorite recipes, tending to her garden, and enjoying a good book with a cup of tea by her side.

Mary Lou's warmth, unwavering positivity, and enduring love for her family and friends stemmed from her deep faith in God. Her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched, and her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
