Michael Joseph (Mike) was born in Fresno, California to Pam and Joe Mighaccio on January 6, 1979. He was welcomed into a wild and crazy Italian/Sicilian family on Joe's side and German family on Pam's side. Combined with Mike's Down Syndrome, this hodgepodge proved to be quite an amusing challenge! Mike always had a great sense of humor and collected lots of friends along life's journey. He was quite a character with a vivid imagination!
Mike was an avid Special Olympics athlete, medaling in many events over the years. His competition even included downhill skiing in Japan!
Mike was Fresno State football's biggest fan! He worked for Coaches Jim Sweeney and Pat Hill through the years and was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes with many of the football players. He graduated from the Adult Transition Program at Fresno State and always considered himself a college graduate!
The World of Outlaws has Sprint Car races were high on Mike's list and he attended the Knoxville Nationals for many years. Every car owner, pit crew member, and driver knew Mike! You could always find him in the pits after the races at the trailer that had the best food!
Mike also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. The highlight of his life was when his brother, Marty, rented a three-wheel Harley "trike" and the two of them spent a day on that bike! The faster they went, the happier Mike got!
Mike was predeceased by his father, Joseph Mighaccio; grandparents, Bill and Gloria Arndt, and Joseph and Mary Mighaccio; and his aunts Carolyn Mighaccio and Karen Mena.
Mike is survived by his loving family; his best friend and love of his life, Jane Jones; mother, Pam Bishop; stepfather, Jim Bishop; second mother, Miyuki Neal; brothers, Marty Mighaccio, Anthony Mighaccio, and Vincent Mena, and their families. He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved. Mike is deeply missed by all.
