Obituary

Nancy Dews Little, beloved wife, mother figure to a cherished poodle, and a beacon of light to all who knew her, peacefully passed away on February 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. While Nancy had encountered various health challenges in recent years, it was ultimately a stroke that led her on her final journey, where she remained unconscious in ICU for ten days. She was 82 years old.

Nancy's enduring love story with her devoted husband, Lloyd, spanned an impressive 62 years. Their bond, rooted in years of courtship and affection, stood as a testament to the enduring power of love. Together, they navigated life's joys and challenges hand in hand, forming a partnership that inspired all who witnessed it.

Born on September 11, 1941, in Winslow, Arizona to Ray and Florence Dews, Nancy Rae Dews brought warmth and kindness wherever she went. A graduate of Fresno High School in 1959, Nancy embarked on a career with Pacific Telephone. Her work ethic and commitment were evident to all who crossed her path.

Nancy had a natural talent for creating a welcoming home, a skill she inherited from her mother. She took great pleasure in decorating her surroundings, ensuring that her home was a reflection of her vibrant personality and impeccable taste.

An avid traveler, Nancy delighted in exploring new destinations with Lloyd by her side. From the sandy shores of Hawaii to the rugged landscapes of Alaska and the sunny beaches of Acapulco, their adventures created lasting memories that they cherished together. They frequently vacationed in Pismo and Monterey, California.

Nancy took an immense pleasure in cooking, mastering dishes passed down through generations. Whether it was a succulent pork roast or perfectly cooked poultry, Nancy's culinary creations brought people together around the table.

Despite life's ups and downs, Nancy maintained a gentle spirit and never harbored anger in her heart. She approached each day with grace and elegance, always impeccably dressed and ready to face whatever challenges came her way.

After living in Sacramento and Oakland, Nancy and Lloyd returned to Fresno in 1966, where they managed apartments and ultimately built a beautiful home and filled it with love and laughter. Together, they created a sanctuary where family and friends were always welcome.

A pillar of strength and love, Nancy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. While her physical presence may no longer grace this earth, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Farewell Funeral Service in Fresno, California. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, February 23 at 9:30 am at Fresno Memorial Gardens in Fresno followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fresno.

Nancy leaves behind her devoted husband, Lloyd, her Sister-in-Law MaryAnn Dews and a host of family and friends who will continue to cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Florence Dews, and brother, Dr. Jon Robert Dews, but her legacy of love and kindness will endure for generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace.
