Obituary

Nancy Bombace Vozza passed away on October 29, 2023. She began life in Utica, New York, on January 12, 1924. At the age of 9 her parents, Gaetano and Pacifica Bombace, moved Nancy and her sisters, Grace and Janet to California. Shortly after they welcomed sister Ann and brother Benny.

Nancy married Lester Vozza on February 13, 1941. It was a marriage of love that lasted for 64 years. The marriage was also fruitful, resulting in three children, Judy, Andrew and Kenny.

Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family. The love Nancy had for her children is best expressed in the words of her son, Andrew, "Mom was the greatest and most loving mother anybody could have. The three of us were truly blessed having her as a mother." Nancy had a great love for every dog and cat (all of which she called Buffy or Phoebe). She made sure all the stray cats in the neighborhood were well fed. She was a wonderful cook, especially Italian dishes. To this day, her meatballs cannot be replicated and her Sunday Gravy was superb. She loved to garden, read romance novels and having endless conversations with her sisters. She lived her last years at the Nazareth House, where she had many friends and enjoyed the activities, especially winning at Bingo.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, Lester, daughter Judy Souza, sisters Grace Camini, Janet Marinovich and Ann Petrushkin. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Vicki Vozza of Tucson AZ, Ken and Cathy Vozza of Fresno, son-in-law Tony Souza of Visalia and brother Benny Bombace of Fresno. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A ceremony to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on November 7, 2023, at 10:00 am, at The Shrine of St. Therese, located at 1410 N. Wishon, Fresno. CA, followed by a graveside service at Belmont Memorial Park.
