Oren Earl "Hank" Sly passed away in his home Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in the evening after a long battle with heart problems. Hank was born in Milford, Utah to Doyle Puffer Sly and Alta Limb Sly on April 14, 1944. He grew up working on the family farm with his three brothers.

After graduating high school, Hank enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served as an airplane technician from 1964-68. Following his military service, Hank returned to Utah where he got a job working with the IRS. It was here that he met Cherryl Williams. Set up together on a blind date because of their mutual love of Mac-N-Cheese. They were married civilly in Ephraim, Utah on June 20, 1970. Later sealed for time and all eternity in the Fresno Temple in 2012.

Their jobs brought the couple to Fresno, California, where they raised their three children: a daughter and two sons. After 36 years, Hank retired from the IRS and took up the job of full-time grandpa, with the occasional gig driving cars across the state.

Hank loved all things cars and the history of the Titanic. He loved to visit Disneyland, Dinky Creek, Morro Bay, and take trips to Utah to visit family. His creative side was shown in his homemade wreaths and beautifully arranged gift baskets. He enjoyed reading spy novels, buying Christmas decorations, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies year round.

Hank is preceded in death by his son, Scott Sly; his parents; his brothers, Ned Wendell Sly and Bobby Ray Sly. He is survived by his wife Cherryl; daughter Melanie (Byron) Harris; son Christopher (Lisa) Sly; daughter-in-law Stephanie (Dan) Dodge; grandchildren: Byron "Jake"(Ashley), Emma, Joel, Lily, Grant, Madison, Loren, Carson, Morgan, Jackson, Spencer, Taylor, and Katherine; great-grandson Dean; older brother Dee (Ellen) Sly; Best Friend of more than 50 years Tony Shamoon; as well as many nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws.
