Obituary

On December 9, 2023, Patricia Marguerite Boardman passed away peacefully at the age of 93.  She rejoined the love of her life, husband Howard, who passed away in 2009.  Patricia (Pat) and Howard were married in 1950 and had five children, 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Pat was first and foremost a devoted wife to Howard and homemaker raising their 5 children.  Pat was involved in sorority Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for over 67 years, Chapter GK of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over 20 years and in 1976 she began an in-home day care caring for a few infants and toddlers.  Some of these children, now adults with families of their own, continued to visit "Nanny" and lavish her with love and attention.

Pat was born on April 20, 1930 to William Bethel Givan and Jessie Marguerite Livermore Givan and raised in Lindsay, CA.  At the age of 5, Pat's mother passed away due to an infection incurred during the birth of Pat's sister, Joan.  For the rest of Pat's life, she mourned the loss of her mother.  Pat and Joan were blessed with Dorothy Agnes Limegrover Givan becoming their step-mother who loved and cared for the two girls until Dorothy's passing in 2003.   Over Pat's life, she maintained many friendships with those she grew up with.

Pat and Howard grew up together in Lindsay and became high school sweethearts.  Over their 58 years of marriage, they frequented Newport Beach to visit Howard's parents, traveled the USA in their RV, camped at Mammoth Pool, visited Hawaii and Australia.  Howard was an excellent cook and together they enjoyed preparing meals for large crowds.  Pat was a willing helper to Howard, preparing gallons of potato salad for a single meal.  Together they were often found "catering" a wedding or special event for family or friends.  Holidays were especially busy for Pat and Howard as they would invite their family and friends to a breakfast of Eggs-ala-Goldenrod and cinnamon rolls.

Pat and Howard loved their family and were quite popular with the grandchildren as they would take them to McDonalds and always had Snicker Bars in the house.  Pat and Howard had an extensive network of friends and many of the children of their friends were embraced as their own.

Over the years, Pat enjoyed knitting, reading, latch-hook, cross stitch, watching soap operas (As The World Turns), word search puzzles, Mahjong, watching old movies, and "decorating" sweatshirts for the grandchildren with puff paint.

Together, Pat and Howard had placed their faith in Jesus Christ.  In her final days, Pat grew closer to God and enjoyed reciting Psalm 23 (KJV) to bring her peace and hope.  Psalm 23 were the words being spoken in her ear as she slipped from this life into her eternal life with Jesus.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband Howard, sister Joan Givan, son-in-law David Taylor, and grandson Howard Timothy Boardman.  She is survived by the following family units:
