Patricia Ann Thomson was born on March 19, 1949, in Fresno, California, to Wallace “Wally” and Adele Thomson. She was the middle sibling of Vicki Noland and David “Skip” Thomson. On December 21, 1968, she married the love of her life, Ed Granata, at the Little Church of the Pines in Bass Lake—a place that would remain dear to her heart, as she spent many summers there with her family at their lake house.

Patti was welcomed home to be with the Lord by her husband, Ed; her parents, Wally and Adele; her in-laws, Angelo and Mary Granata; and her beloved grandson, Caleb. She was a faithful follower of Jesus and attended People's Church for more than 40 years, where she raised her children and built many lasting friendships.

Patti dedicated 28 years to Fresno Unified School District, serving as an Office Manager at Hoover High School and Duncan Polytechnical High School, before retiring from Design Science Middle College High School.

She was a loving and deeply committed mother to her three incredible children, who were truly the sparkle in her eyes: Michelene Fitzgerald (married to Scott Fitzgerald), Shelly Elrod (married to Mike Elrod), and Anthony “TJ” Granata ( married to Layla Granata). Her love and passion for her children were unmatched.

Patti surrounded herself with those she loved and spent every possible moment doing what brought her joy—playing cards with friends, cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events, being the neighborhood prankster, or collecting more sand dollars than anyone could carry. Cayucos was one of her favorite places to visit, especially when shared with family.

She treasured her friendships, many of which were formed with neighbors who became like family. But above all else, Patti’s greatest joy came with the arrival of her grandchildren. First came Savannah, followed by Caleb, Téa, and Ellie Fitzgerald. Then came twin boys, Tyler and Brody Elrod, followed by Sullivan and Sutton Granata.

Patti could never get enough time with her children and grandchildren. Her world revolved around them, and she took every opportunity to attend as many events and milestones as possible. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her children—exactly as she would have wanted, held in love.
