Randy was born on February 1, 1948, at Mercy hospital in Sacramento where his family lived for several years before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. They lived in Tulsa for 3 years, then, following many members of his extended family, they moved back to Sacramento until his father was transferred to Fresno.

Randy attended and graduated from Fresno High School. With the draft in place jobs were hard to come by if you had an A-1 status so Randy enlisted in the Army and bravely served in Vietnam. He received 2 medals of commendation and talked often about his time overseas. When he was discharged, he settled in Seattle where he then lived for 17 years. Randy met Kathy at their 20-year class reunion, and it truly was love at first sight. Within a year he was able to transfer to Fresno and he and Kathy were married. They had 37 wonderful years together.

Kathy's son, Justin, was 10 years old when they were married, and Justin became the son Randy never had. Justin and Randy loved fishing and spent many hours on Millerton Lake looking for those special fishing spots. Justin grew up and is now raising 3 children of his own. Lexi is in her second year at Fresno State and Ross and Jax are juniors at Clovis North High School. The boys' passions are football and wrestling and Randy took great pride in their many athletic accomplishments.

Randy's second love was golf and he and Kathy's brothers, John and Jerry, were his best golfing buddies. The three of them had many hilarious stories to tell. Randy and Kathy spent many happy hours vacationing in their RV and while they traveled as far as the Grand Canyon, the Pacific Coast was their destination of choice.

During the last few months, Randy's daughter, Jessica, has been able to spend a great deal of time with us. She lives in Seattle with her husband, four girls and 4 dogs. Here is a never ending thank you to her husband Joe and mom Bev for holding down the fort while Jessica has been here. Her visit provided Randy with a feeling of peace and well-being. Jessica, Kathy's family, Justin's family, the Sonksons and friends have provided a loving and supportive circle.

All of you knew and loved Randy well, which is why you are here today. Behind his gruff exterior, Randy was a thoughtful, caring, and fun-loving person to all his friends and family. He was a perfect life partner for Kathy. Randy has left a void in our lives, and we will miss him terribly.
