Richard Victor Kelton also known as Dick Kelton

Born to Hubert and Marcella Kelton on December 28, 1935 in Fresno, California where he lived his entire life. He went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2024 a little over a week after celebrating his 88th birthday. He was finally convinced to move into assistive living where he had to be the tough guy as always. He battled bladder cancer with termination.

He lost his father at a young age and was raised by his mother, grandmother along with two sisters. His oldest sister Joan Sandys passed away a few years ago and has a younger sister Nancie Ellis Andrews who resides in Long Beach.

Dick attended Fresno High School class of 1954. He was a star athlete, letting in baseball and football earning a Division 1 scholarship. Dick loved hunting and fishing, starting at the age of 13. He rarely missed a season doing both as often as he could making friends in the process. Even though he loved hunting Dick was an animal lover. His best friend was his golden lab Chesa Mae. He would often go to family and friends homes just to give their dog(s) a bone bone that he carried in his car/truck.

Dick started out in trucking and worked his way up to opening his warehousing/logistic, trucking companies. He had many business ventures, one of his proudest achievements was opening All-Star Warehouse and Distribution along with others. He was old school not wanting to use technology but managed to get the job done.

He was involved in Fresno City and Fresno State athletics, attending many games with his family and friends, making many more lifelong friends along the way. He was active with fundraising and providing jobs for student athletes when that was acceptable. He loved sports, Raiders was the team, and he had a few great hunting friends in Daryle Lamonica, Jim Otto. His best buddy in the later part of life was Jim Maloney, hunting fishing companion, a true friend visiting him often. He loved the smell of Hopi's gun cleaner. He was a gifted storyteller, never short on words. He taught his two grandsons how to hunt and attended many sporting events they were involved with.

Dick married Donna Kelton after high school and had two children, Michael Kelton who proceeded him in death and a living daughter Vicki Gostanian of Clovis. He is survived by both his first wife Donna and a second wife Jean Kelton, his daughter Vicki Gostanian, husband Aram, their children, Spencer, his wife Madelieve, great granddaughters Genevieve and Gwyneth. Along with Griffin and Haley and her husband Jon Gunnewegh. Granddaughters from his son, Kristin Middione, her husband Matthew, great grandsons Jayce and Jax, Kayla Sullivan, her husband Zac, great grandsons Zlatan and Zayn. He also leaves his younger sister Nancie along with several nieces and nephews.

Dick had a long lasting friendship with Zack Rix whom he met when Zack came to play football at Fresno State in the late 80's early 90's. He had hired him to work as a working athlete and carried it from there. Dick's family so appreciates all the love and support through the years that Rix family gave to him. Dick considered Zack his adopted son.

One of the best decisions Dick made in his life was accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Thanks to Tim Rolen for mentoring him.

His ashes will be spread in Utah along with his dog Chesa on a ranch he loved to hunt at. The perfect spot had been picked and more than likely won't be able to get to until July due to snow.

The bottom line is Dick lived life on his terms, and never quit. He left a lasting impression on all he met.
